PSHE

At New Forest School, the PSHE subject takes an important role in the young people’s education, because all the areas covered in PSHE, like health and well-being, relationships, living in the wider world, as well as the social aspects of the curriculum can have a significant impact on the young people’s lives.

The young people or New Forest School, experience difficulties in expressing themselves in a social situation or dealing with personal well-being, health or economic responsibilities and more importantly they might struggle accessing support with their difficulties and this can affect their education across other subjects too, therefore, PSHE education is not only beneficial in learning and gaining knowledge related to their difficulties in life but also to gain confidence and accessing support and help when in need for their difficulties to be able to access education.

The PSHE curriculum aims are to achieve a high standard understanding of the personal, social, health and economic aspect of our young people’s lives. Furthermore, minimise gaps in knowledge of the aforementioned aspects, to achieve a good understanding of acceptable and high standard social life, as well as, build confidence in their themselves.

All students receive a single lessons of PSHE & Careers per week.

In addition, some students receive additional input via the Boy Talk/Girl Talk programme.

PSHE is a non-examined subject therefore students do not undertake qualifications in PSHE.
