POST 16 OVERVIEW

Aims

Our Post 16 provision provides an alternative or stepping-stone provision for 16-18 year olds students who may need additional support preparing for a formal college placement or additional time to complete Level 2 qualifications due to their prior educational experiences.

Curriculum Offer

Our Post 16 curriculum offer is based on one of two vocational opathways:

  1. Construction
  2. Animal Management

Alongside:

  1. Functional skills English & Maths
  2. PSHE & Careers
  3. Outdoor Education
  4. Life Skills & Preparation for further education/work

Location

Our Post 16 is located at our Totton Site which provides access to dedicated classrooms and our construction hub.

In addition, students make use of our School Farm and Outdoor Learning Centre for animal management lessons, outdoor education lessons and enterprise projects.

Post 16

The school is highly ambitious for its pupils. It recognises the vulnerabilities of some pupils who may not be emotionally or academically ready to leave school at the end of key stage 4. There is a likelihood that some pupils may struggle to transition to a new further education provider. Therefore, the school is looking to continue its excellent curriculum offer to allow pupils to stay at New Forest for one or two more years.
